Hey gang, it’s time for an update!
Fall always seems to equal busy times…everything happens at once…
Anywho- after an amazing summer with some really fun shows and festivals (and some great time off too!) We have some news to share as of late : along with the 2012 ECMA nod, Warhorses earned a Music Nova Scotia nomination for rock recording of the year!
We will also be performing at this years gala awards show in Liverpool, NS. Currently in the midst of fall dates around the maritimes that lead into 2013 , we’re always working on new sounds and new shows.
In other news, in late spring our brother in arms (who helped us make Warhorses and tour it,) bass player and awesome human Jonny B Goud decided to step away from the road… We were sad to see him go of course, but wish him all the best and muchos gracias! (Thanks Jonny!)
So , now, with the return of the boistrous and insanely entertaining Sam Nijjar to the band, the energy and the show seems to have only built steam! We are stoked to have Sam back on board with us and the low end in such capable and entertaining hands.
Check this review from the other nights show:
“Andrew Hunter and the Gatherers captured the somewhat growing casino audience right away with the most energetic bass player I’ve ever seen. Sam Nijjar spun circles (literally) about the stage and while I sometimes feared for his bass (often not strapped to him at all), Nijjar was clearly the bass master of the show. They sang of the “Good Old Days” and one couldn’t help but feel good. The energy of this trio only got more intense as their set went on. Hunter’s solos were always well placed and the bass covered the void of ‘rhythm guitar world’ perfectly. Drummer Bryan Page drove the band onward as Hunter sang his heart out and Nijjar knocked his knees to the beat. Such unrelenting spirit even won them some dancers out front of the stage. Wishing more people had filled the lounge to see this band, given their gig record with The Trews, Joel Plaskett, Matt Mays and more, I don’t think they’ll have an issue finding fans to fill their seats. A grand audience or a few patrons of live music makes no difference to these guys: they love what they do regardless, and it shows.” – Anthony Le Clair , GUFF magazine .
So as the saying goes “everything old is new again” it seems,,, and we couldn’t be much happier.
